# Pause a learner and exclude them from Compliance reports

### How to pause a learner and exclude them from compliance reports

Sometimes you may wish to pause a learner - when they go on maternity leave or long term sickness for example and cannot complete their learning. To prevent their absence from impacting their compliance, you can **Pause** the learner.

1. To do so, go to the **Users** tab and locate the user's profile.

2. Click on the **Pause User** button.

3. The learner is now paused and removed from compliance checks.

4. To  'Un-Pause' them, simply click on the **Unpause user** button.

* Your user list will show those paused users with a yellow icon next to their name:

| You can use the **filter** option in the **Users** tab to easily locate the paused users.
