How to create different types of lessons in Course Manager
When you create a course in Qintil, the next thing that you need to do is add lessons to your course. Here are the different types of lessons that you can create under Course Manager:
1.) Video Lesson
2.) Rich Text Lesson
3.) Document Lesson
4.) External Link Lesson
5.) Instructor Led Training
6.) Tincan/xAPI course
7.) Quiz
8.) Assessment

In this type of lesson, you will see the different options below to customize it:
Lesson Name
- This is where you can enter the name of the lesson.
URL
- You can place the link of the video here.
Instructions/Description
- This is where you can put the description of the lesson and the step-by-step instructions on how the learner can complete it.
Completion Option
-There are three choices that you can find here namely, Optional, Completed when opened, and Completion confirmed by learner.
Optional - the lesson would be automatically marked as complete once the learner has gone through it. They may also opt to skip the lesson under this option.
Completed when opened - the lesson will be marked as complete once the learner opens the video.
Completion confirmed by learner - the learner will be the one to confirm that the lesson has been completed.
Don't forget to click "Save" to keep the set up that you have created.
Adding a Rich Text Lesson has only three customization options:
Lesson Name
- This is where you can enter the name of the lesson.
Text box
-Here is where you can enter the lesson or all the important information that you want to share to your learners.
Completion Option
-There are three choices that you can find here namely, Optional, Completed when opened, and Completion confirmed by learner.
Optional - the lesson would be automatically marked as complete once the learner has gone through it. They may also opt to skip the lesson under this option.
Completed when opened - the lesson will be marked as complete once the learner opens the video.
Completion confirmed by learner - the learner will be the one to confirm that the lesson has been completed.
Don't forget to click "Save" to keep the set up that you have created.
When you want to create lessons by uploading documents embedded to it or for your learners to download, a Document Lesson is a good option to choose. It supports the basic file types that we regularly use such as pdf, word, image, or any other file type.
A Document Lesson have these customization options:

- This is where you can put the description of the lesson and the step-by-step instructions on how the learner can complete it.
Upload Document
- This is where you can upload the lesson files.
- You can choose whether the files would Show in lesson or the learners would have to Download them.

For lessons that are taught by an instructor. Schedule sessions and either assign your learners to sessions or let your learners decide the session they want to attend.

- You can find all the sessions you have created here.
Add Session
- This is where you can add more scheduled sessions for the training.
Learner can enrol themselves in sessions
-If you wish to let the learners enrol themselves in the sessions without you having to add them, just tick the box to enable it.
In adding a session, you need to set it up by adding the date, time, duration, the name of the Instructor, location (Optional), or you may also opt to use the Qintil Online Classroom by clicking the blue tick box.
Presentation File
-This is where you can upload a file for the presentation during training.
Completion Option
Optional - the lesson would be automatically marked as complete once the learner has gone through it.
Completion marked by instructor - the instructor will be the one to confirm that the lesson has been completed.
Don't forget to click "Save" to keep the set up that you have created.
If you would like to provide a more interactive experience for your learners, you can upload Tincan or xAPI courses using this option.

You can set up your Tincan/xAPI course using these options:
Lesson Name
- This is where you can enter the name of the lesson.
Upload Content
- This is where you can upload the zip file containing the TinCan/xAPI content.
- iSpring is the preferred authoring tool. Contact us at Qintil Support to get a great deal on an iSpring subscription.
- Content created in other authoring tools should also work if you export it in TinCan/xAPI format.
You can either choose to show the external content in lesson by selecting Show in lesson or have the content Open in new tab.
Don't forget to click "Save" to keep the set up that you have created.
Give your learners a multiple choice quiz to check on their progress or to assess their understanding and completion of the course.
There are two types of quiz that you can create:
Quick Quiz - for quick quizzes the learner is shown the correct answer as soon as they attempt each question.
Graded Quiz - for graded quizzes the learner submits the quiz after attempting all questions, and is then told if they have passed or failed based on the pass mark you set for the quiz.
You can customize your quiz with these options:
Lesson Name
- This is where you can enter the name of the quiz.
Quiz Type
- Choose between a Quick Quiz or a Graded Quiz to assess the understanding of your learners about the lesson.
- For Graded Quizzes, you need to set up how many percent of correct answers the learner must get to pass and complete it.
Instructions (optional)
- This is where you can leave specific instructions for your learners related to the quiz.
Questions
- This is where you can create questions for your quiz. You need to type in the question on the space provided for questions and enter the answer choices below. You can add multiple answer choices depending on your preference. Just click the + Add Answer button on the lower part of the question box. Select the correct answer from the choices by clicking the tick box in the same field.
- You can also add questions by clicking the + Add Question button which can be found under the last question box.
Don't forget to click "Save" to keep the set up that you have created.
Adding an Assessment allows the learner to submit material for grading. You can choose to ask the learner to enter a text response, or to upload a file. You can also provide a template for them to download, which they can complete and upload to be assessed.
If the learner has to complete a course external from Qintil, you can use this option to ask them to upload a certificate or other evidence of completion which you can then verify before marking the course as complete.

5.) Adding an Instructor Led Training

6.) Adding a Tincan/xAPI course
If you would like to provide a more interactive experience for your learners, you can upload Tincan or xAPI courses using this option.
Please contact Qintil Support if you are interested in an addon subscription to iSpring, or if you have SCORM courses that you want to upload.
